Lufthansa appoints station manager for Bristol

Lufthansa has appointed Helen Allen as Station Manager to oversee the running of the airline’s new operation in Bristol with flights to Frankfurt due to start at the end of March. It is a return to Bristol for Allen who studied German at the University of Bristol from 1983 to 1987.

She joined Lufthansa in a temporary position on leaving university before becoming a check-in agent at London Heathrow. In almost 21 years with Lufthansa, Helen Allen has gained extensive knowledge of the airline by working around the UK in operations, reservations and on the ticket desk.

After leaving London Heathrow, she spent nine years in Manchester before becoming Lufthansa’s first permanent staff member at Stansted. In 2001 she was appointed Lufthansa Duty Station Manager at London City Airport and was promoted to Station Manager there in 2005.

Announcing the appointment, Marianne Sammann, Lufthansa General Manager UK and Ireland, said: “The appointment of Helen Allen confirms the importance Lufthansa is giving to our new Bristol operation. Her vast experience can only further enhance the level of service we are able to deliver to our customers in the South West of England who choose to take advantage of Lufthansa’ s reputation for punctuality and efficiency from their local airport.”

In her new role, Helen Allen will be responsible for all operational aspects of Lufthansa’s base at Bristol, starting with the new three times a day service to Frankfurt and she is looking forward to the new challenge.

“I am relishing the opportunity presented by starting up a brand new operation at Bristol”, Helen Allen said.

“I have already been made to feel welcome and at home by everyone with whom I have come into contact and I hope this is the start of a long and very happy partnership with Bristol. On a personal note, I am really looking forward to reacquainting myself with Bristol and seeing the changes and developments that have been made since my days here at university.”
