Lufthansa adjusts fuel surcharge on European and long-haul routes

14th May 2008 Print
In recent weeks, crude oil and kerosene prices have continued to rise and have now reached an all-time high. In response to this development, Lufthansa is adjusting its fuel surcharge on all its flights.

The fuel surcharge on long-haul routes will be raised by five euros to 82 euros per flight segment. The fuel surcharge on domestic German and intra-European routes will increase by four euros to 21 euros per flight leg. The increases will apply to all Lufthansa tickets issued on or after 14 May 2008.

Lufthansa last increased its fuel surcharge on European flights on 13 March 2008 by three euros to 17 euros. The surcharge on long-haul flights was last raised on 14 November 2007 by ten euros to 77 euros.

Lufthansa continually monitors oil prices and will make any future adjustments to the fuel surcharge dependent on further trends in the price of jet fuel.
