Air Dolomiti takes delivery of first Embraer 195

3rd February 2009 Print
The first Embraer 195 type aircraft has officially been handed over to Air Dolomiti. The event in São José dos Campos, the headquarters of Embraer in Brazil, marked the beginning of delivery of a total of 30 aircraft of the 190 family to the Lufthansa Group by the end of 2011. The modern and economically highly-efficient regional aircraft were ordered from the Brazilian manufacturer by Lufthansa in June 2007.

Air Dolomiti, the Italian Lufthansa subsidiary in its Regional alliance, will take delivery of five aircraft of the type 195 this year, each fitted with 116 seats. The so-called E-Jet will operate on routes between Italy and Germany such as, for example, from Verona, Milan as well as Turin to Munich and Frankfurt.

“We are delighted that, with the Embraer 195, we will be operating one of the most modern regional aircraft in the world in our fleet”, comments Michael Kraus, President and CEO of Air Dolomiti. “We will thus be able to offer our customers maximum comfort with excellent Air Dolomiti service and Italian flair”.

Consistent investments in state-of-the-art technology and a young, environmentally-compatible fleet play a major role for Lufthansa. The aircraft of the 190 family set themselves apart thanks to their excellent quality and are leaders in terms of their ecological efficiency.

“With less than four litres of kerosene per passenger and 100 kilometres, the Embraer 195 is particularly economical and environmentally-friendly", explained Nico Buchholz, Senior Vice President Corporate Fleet at Lufthansa. "In addition, the E-Jet also impresses with its low emission values and low noise pollution”.

The delivery of the new Embraer aircraft is part of a comprehensive programme for the modernization of the regional fleet within the Lufthansa Group.
