More than 330 young people are to begin their apprentice training at Lufthansa in 2009. Most of them are commencing their new courses in the next few weeks. The training options offered by the Lufthansa Group are many and various. However, tuition in technical professions such as aircraft mechanic or electronic aviation systems specialist makes up the bulk of the portfolio. Traineeships at Lufthansa open up perspectives for young people starting their career even in the persistent economic crisis, since employment prospects on completion of their course are good: Lufthansa has a tradition of training young people to meet its own staffing requirements.
The Group additionally offers young people further opportunities to obtain vocational qualifications on dual courses combining a commercial traineeship with a degree course. In cooperation with the European Business School, Lufthansa has, among others, been offering a course in Aviation Management since 2006. Aside from a strong practical slant, the course enables students to graduate with a BSc. Parallel to their internationally oriented theoretical tuition, these students complete an aviation commercial traineeship. In cooperation with other universities, Lufthansa offers a total of 18 courses combining academic studies with hands-on practical experience at the Company.
Also this year, 240 trainee pilots will begin their course at Lufthansa’s Pilot School in Bremen.
