A House Party in the Loire
Spend a week in a 16th century watermill called the Moulin Garnier (19-26 April 2007) in the beautiful village of Vernou, about ten kilometres to the west of Tours, in the Loire Valley.
The Loire is known for its glorious river valleys, its abbeys and cathedrals and, above all, for its magnificent châteaux. This holiday takes in numerous stunning chateaux and offers participants (no more than 12) the chance to get to know this region in greater depth and to visit places and meet people not always accessible to the average tourist.
The house party costs £795 per person and includes transfers from Tours airport or train station, bed, breakfast and dinner every day. All entrances fees to monuments, museums etc transport (by car) wine and occasional drinks.
Foothills of the Himalayas
This exciting 17 day journey (5-21 March 2007) takes travellers through the foothills of the Himalayas with visits to the hill stations of Nainital and Mussoorie and the Jim Corbett Wild Life Sanctuary featuring over 100 tigers plus elephants, leopards, wild boar and crocodiles.
The tour moves on to the holy Hindu city of Haridwar and then to the hill station of Shimla, once the summer capital of the British. It starts and ends in Delhi and costs £2295 per person, based on two people sharing a twin room, and includes: return scheduled flights, all transport, accommodation in good and interesting hotels on a B&B, full board at the Corbett Wild Life Sanctuary, entrance fees and guided visits.
Van Eyck to Reubens – The Golden Age of Flemish Painting
This tour explores the art and architecture of Belgium through visits to the beautifully preserved medieval cities of Bruges, Ghent, Antwerp and Brussels (26 May - 2 June 2007).
Based in Bruges the trip takes in the Groeninge Museum and the St John’s Hospital featuring the works of Jan van Eyck, Hans Memling and Gerard David. In Ghent participants will visit St Bavo’s Cathedral which contains the most important altar piece of the fifteenth century – the Adoration of the Mystic Lamb, painted by the Van Eyck brothers.
The tour also includes the Gothic Cathedral with altarpieces by Rubens, Rubens house and studio and the Fine Arts Museum in Antwerp. It costs £795 per person including Eurostar travel to Bruges, seven nights B&B accommodation at the Hotel Ter Duinen in Bruges and excursions by train.
