Optimising public transport for holiday travel
Campers should think about using public transport to travel on holiday - that’s the claim from Europe’s camping expert, Eurocamp, which has just unveiled a new innovation for 2007 to make it easier for its customers to do just that.Eurocamp has formed a new alliance with Rail Europe, meaning that for the first time the camping company can book customers’ train travel to their chosen destination.
This is further expansion of Eurocamp’s promise to provide today’s holidaymakers with real choice.
The new service means holidaymakers can easily book services such as TGV, direct from the UK to the heart of Europe, in much the same way as they book cross channel ferries now.
Eurocamp managing director, Deborah Beckett, said: “This is about providing holidaymakers with real choice. With excellent links across Europe, public transport like trains can actually be a fast and a surprisingly less stressful way of travelling.”
Commenting on the benefits of travelling by train, Jane Dunham, head of sales at Rail Europe, said: “In addition to being fast, efficient and easy to use, the European rail network offers a more environmentally friendly way for holidaymakers to reach their destination. We are delighted to be working with Eurocamp to bring their customers a truly viable alternative.”
Eurocamp continues to offer fly and camp, including airport transfers, as well as self drive facilities for travellers – all with the option to off-set carbon emissions.
