Jet2.com offers package holidays for less

In a move designed to ‘attack the heart of traditional tour operating’ low cost airline Jet2.com has teamed up with leading dynamic packager the On Holiday Group to create Jet2holidays.com – a tour operator with a difference.

Launched today, Jet2holidays.com, will ditch brochures and other costly overheads and sell package holidays online in three-five star hotels at as-it-happens, ‘market price’ – a week in Majorca will start from £129 per person, based on two sharing, self catering in Majorca in October. There is also a best deal of the day on the website’s homepage.

By combining its low cost flights with the buying power of OHG – which buys up to 2.5m bed spaces a year – and by adding in personal resort taxi transfer and on-demand repping, Jet2holidays.com says it is going to change the traditional package tour market forever.

For the first time, holidays will be packaged from high-quality three, four and five-star hotel stock and paired online with low cost flights – exclusively on Jet2.com services – meaning market rate, as-it-happens pricing.

Jet2holidays.com boss Philip Meeson said: “Why would a holidaymaker want to book a package break from a brochure which had its price set six months ago, when we can offer real-time, market-price rates?

“The business model is based on a relatively straightforward principle of matching low cost airline flights with high quality hotel stock – but until new technology was developed, it had remained an untapped market.

“Our message is this: book today and get today’s lowest price, not last year’s prescribed brochure price. This will offer great value to the public.”

Jet2holidays.com will offer hundreds of thousands of package holiday options to customers in and around its six UK airports* in the North of England, Northern Ireland and Scotland to the Spanish mainland, the Balearics and Canaries, as well as Portugal.

Rather than being constrained by weekly departure dates, customers can depart on the day of their choice rather than a fixed date that is often inconvenient for working families.

To make the whole package complete, all holidays will include personal taxi transfers in resort and on-demand holiday reps will ensure help is on hand when needed without the hassle of them following customers’ every move.

The commercial operation of Jet2holidays.com will be run by Jet2.com and operate from a web-based platform built by the On Holiday Group, headed by ex-Airtours boss Steve Endacott.
