Enjoy a summer break in Lapland

6th March 2007 Print
Lapland Finnish Lapland has enjoyed an enormous surge in popularity as a top December destination for British families seeking Santa Claus. Now, however, one tour operator is introducing a short-break option which showcases the fantastic opportunities for fun in Lapland not with snow but with wall-to-wall daylight and the midnight sun.

“Lapland in summer is just as a amazing as in winter, although its attraction is so different,” says Anne Lind, director of the Finnish Tourist Board. “For several weeks in June and July the sun never sets below the horizon, creating an atmosphere of energy that does away with being tired and promotes activity and enjoyment. Anyone who has seen Lapland wearing its thick white winter coat should come and take a look at how different it is during those warm, endless days of summer.”

Canterbury Travel’s ‘Lapland – land of the Midnight Sun’ is a three-night break from 21 to 24 June which includes an introduction to the culture and traditions of Lapland, attendance at an outdoor midsummer festival, a visit to a wildlife centre to see brown bears, wolverine, elk and reindeer and a chance to ‘shoot the rapids’ in a riverboat.

Prices start at £980 (based on two sharing) including return charter flights, full board and tours as specified. For more details visit: midnight-sun-lapland.com.
