Enjoy a real “Indian Summer” holiday

23rd March 2007 Print
Indian Summer India is a ‘hot’ destination at any time - however there is a strong case for an off season odyssey. Celebrate Bales’ 60th Birthday and India’s 60 years of Independence and take an Indian summer holiday in 2007.

From £1295 per person you can visit the magical golden triangle on a 10 day tour, and from £2095 per person you can be taken on a glorious 15 day Himayalan Journey that takes you into the atmospheric hill stations of British India.

Despite wide belief that India is out of bounds during the monsoon season (our summer time) there are vast number of compelling reasons to tempt you.

1. Festival Fever
Move to the rhythm of the Punjabi drummers during Baisakhi in April, or dance and celebrate Tse-Chu with the Buddhist monks of Hemis Gompa in the Himalaya in July. The vast array of fiestas, cultural events and religious celebrations during the summer will make your head spin!

2. A Taste for Tigers
A Bengal Beauty encounter is greatly increased as tigers venture further out of their vegetation in search of water in the summer months from March to May. Visit the Great Himalayan National Park in Himachal Pradesh, the Govind Wildlife Sanctuary in Uttaranchal or the Corbett Tiger Reserve- to spot one of these magnificent creatures.

3. Private Viewings
Get away from the crowds and get that magic shot of the Taj- minus the milling hordes. The summer months (April to September) mean that you can appreciate the spectacular palaces, temples and monuments in a more private way.

4. Head for the Hills
Enjoy spectacular views of cedar-clad valleys and explore areas of the Himalaya only accessible during the summer months by staying in an Indian hill station- built in the heyday of the Raj. Do this in luxury by staying at Wildflower Hall (near Shimla) which offers a whole host of activities such as horse riding, rafting and spa facilities.

5. Live Royally for Rupees
Stay in the plushest places for less. Fewer travellers means lower rates, with generous discounts on everything from hotels to tours between the months of April and September ‘clients can relax in the luxury of Taj hotels resorts and palaces on a ten day tour of majestic India from £2,145- which includes savings of up to £500 per person if they were travelling in peak time’ says Iain Fenton, Sales and Marketing Director for Bales Worldwide.
