Take a hike - to Slovenia

26th March 2007 Print
Slovenia's Triglav Mountain Four new walking and hiking tours of Slovenia have been launched by specialist trekking company Navacos, with experienced mountain guides taking guests to Slovenia’s most beautiful and hidden landscapes and accommodation in mountain huts.

The itineraries centre around Slovenia’s Julian Alps, the eastern extremity of Europe’s Alps, and are for groups of 4 – 15 guests.

The most ambitious is a hike / climb up Slovenia’s iconic ‘Triglav’ mountain, the country’s highest peak and national symbol. The ‘Legend of Zlatorog’ tour centres around the lakes mountains in Slovenia’s north west, the ‘Farewell to Arms’ tour around the old WW1 front line in Slovenia’s Soca Valley, the fourth ‘Julian Alps to the Adriatic’ combines mountain walking with time on the coast and a ‘slow food’ experience in the Soca Valley and is suitable for most grades of walker and children over 10.

Slovenia is one of Europe’s most natural and unspoilt destinations and conservation and ecology are key to the Navacos tour itineraries. Groups are kept deliberately small to minimise damage to the environment and use local accommodation in rustic mountain huts, which use local and organic produce.

The tours run on Sundays between June and September and can be booked in conjunction with daily flights from Stansted to Ljubljana with easyJet (easyjet.com). Airport transfers are included within the cost of the tours.
