Sunflowers & Tulips - springtime in Amsterdam

Of course the warm colours of the great artist can be seen any time in Amsterdam, but it is only in April and May that Holland’s own exuberant bulb fields come to life with colours as striking as Van Gogh’s. The national garden centre at Keukenhof has spectacular gardens and exhibition halls which are a riot of colourful tulips of every conceivable variety. It is easy to take a day trip from Amsterdam by train to Leiden (30 minutes) and then onto the Keukenhof Express to the gardens (€18 including entrance fee).
Eurolines has direct services 4 times a day from London’s Victoria Coach Station to Amsterdam. Its Eurolines Plus service has generous legroom to let you relax and make the journey part of the holiday and makes for a hassle-free way to travel.
