Brits say ‘Bon Vacances’ to camping in France
The Brits are heading back to France for their summer holidays, boosting sales to some regions by up to 36%. Bookings for Brittany and the Pyrénées have shown the steepest rise according to Eurocamp, which has over 30 years’ experience of providing family camping holidays to these popular destinations. This is also reflected in the increased number of bookings with Brittany Ferries.
The news is welcome, following recent trends amongst British holiday-makers to venture further a field to less traditional holiday destinations.
Now they are reducing their carbon footprint by opting for somewhere closer to home, and taking the stress out of travelling by avoiding airports and using ferries instead.
The return to camping in France also means many families recognise the benefits of a simpler holiday in the outdoors, where fresh air and fun are the key attractions.
Deborah Beckett, managing director of Eurocamp, said: “France is booming this season, especially key regions like Brittany and the Pyrénées.
“Families are thinking much more carefully about the impact they have on the environment and the potential stress involved from travelling to their holiday destination and this could be one of the factors influencing their return to France.”
