Devon Cliffs Holiday Park sings the blues

24th May 2007 Print
Devon Cliffs Holiday Park Take a break at Haven Holidays’ Devon Cliffs holiday park and enjoy one of the cleanest beaches in Britain. Sandy Bay, which is looked after by the park has recently been awarded a Blue Flag – the top international seaside accolade which recognises litter-free sands, top-notch facilities and clean water.

The beach lies near the start of the World Heritage Jurassic Coastline and has over half a mile of safe, clean sands, rock pools and clear seas. Directly accessed from the park it benefits from a daily litter sweep and regular monitoring for marine life as well as having a daily lifeguard service provided by the RNLI to make it extra safe for families and children.

Congratulating members of her "Green Team" who are mainly responsible for looking after the beach, Devon Cliffs Resort Director Mrs Joan Thomas said: "This is a fantastic achievement and will give holidaymakers all the reassurance they need that Sandy Bay is of the highest standard in terms of water-quality, safety and facilities. She added, "In fact we were proud to be told that our water quality actually exceeds the highest standards set by Europe."

The latest award for Sandy Bay comes just a month after it received a Quality Coast Award under a new scheme launched by the organisers of the Blue Flag awards. The park has also won numerous environmental awards including the coveted Gold David Bellamy Conservation Award.

And of course it’s not just the beach that attracts holidaymakers to Devon Cliffs – it has a superb indoor and outdoor swimming pool complex with slides, flumes and a play area for smaller children; multi-sports courts, play areas and this year opened a brand new Adventure Golf course. At night a choice of three entertainment venues provides music, dancing, cabaret and family shows. There is also a luxury spa offering a range of health and beauty treatments.

The park sits directly on the South West Coast Path so keen walkers can enjoy access to miles of walking with wonderful views of the award winning beach and the Heritage Coast.

Prices for a self-catering break at Devon Cliffs start at around £319 for a weekend in June or book a week in the summer from £699. Both prices are bases on standard accommodation for a family of up to six.
