Princess Cruises to launch Ruby Princess in November 2008
Princess Cruises has just announced its fourth ‘gem’ – Ruby Princess. Making its debut in November 2008, just 19 months after the extremely successful launch of its sister ship and fellow jewel in the Princess crown – Emerald Princess – made its maiden voyage. The new superliner will start its inaugural season with a series of seven-day western Caribbean sailings from Fort Lauderdale, taking in the islands of Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Cozumel and Princess’s own private resort in the Bahamas, Princess Cays.
Ruby Princess, which has just started construction, will feature the classic signature aspects of its sisters Emerald Princess and Crown Princess, including the stunning Crown Grill and Sabatini’s restaurants and the adult’s only retreat, The Sanctuary.
The addition of Ruby Princess, the 18th ship in the Princess fleet, reflects the fact that cruising is becoming increasingly popular, with the number of British cruise passengers having doubled in the past 10 years to 1.2million. Princess Cruises recognises that passengers demand an ever-wider choice of onboard facilities.
Pieter van der Schee, Head of Brand Marketing for Princess Cruises recently commented:
“The feedback from our British passengers and travel agents is that Princess’s new superliners stand out for their intimate atmosphere and attention to detail, while offering the greater choice of entertainment and dining that such a big ship allows. Ruby Princess will be a stylish backdrop for our guests to enjoy the sun and fun of the Caribbean.”
