Pennsylvania introduces Forest Photo Treks
Zoom in on the Allegheny National Forest in northwestern Pennsylvania for the new PhotoTreks guided by National Geographic’s veteran photographer, Ed Bernik.With 513,000 acres of Eastern United States’ most primeval forest, bisected by Pennsylvania’s Scenic Route 6, the Allegheny National Forest is home to the Seneca Tribe of the Iroquois Nation and to wildlife such as bald eagles, black bear and many species of migratory birds.
Capturing images over two days and overnight, photographers of all levels will be amidst the Pennsylvania Wilds, witnessing memorable sights such as a black bear with her spring cub drinking from the mountain stream, a bald eagle in search of the morning’s meal and the mist rising over Willow Bay. The tour combines both photographic techniques and tips working in a digital medium, as well as a unique travel experience in the heart of rural Pennsylvania
At noon on the first day, the group will be greeted by photographer Ed Bernik and their forest guide. A buffet luncheon will be followed by a 1.5 hour educational seminar. Participants will then travel by caravan into the Allegheny National Forest to catch the afternoon and evening light through their viewfinder.
Following the Allegheny National Forest Trek participants will be hosted at Flickerwood Wine Cellars to a late evening meal featuring Pennsylvania cuisine paired with locally produced wines. Overnight accommodation is provided by the Best Western Bradford Inn.
On the second day, the group will gather for an early morning breakfast with a professional critic of their photography from the previous day’s journey. Boarding the caravan, participants will travel into the forest for photo opportunities with hands on instruction. The Photo Trek will conclude with a luncheon hosted at Westline Inn, a historic Inn located along Kinzua Creek.
The Allegheny National Forest, northwest Pennsylvania is within a two hour drive of Niagara Falls and New York.
The two day, one night package Allegheny National Forest Photo Trek costs $199.00 per person. This includes overnight accommodation at the Best Western Bradford Inn. Bradford, PA with breakfast, photography instruction by Ed Bernik, Forest Press and guide service into the Allegheny National Forest.
The treks run between May and October with a minimum group of 30 trekkers. Tour length and itineraries can be customized upon request
