Take a nostalgic holiday on the Nile

2nd July 2007 Print
Cruising on the Nile Bales Worldwide has added a further date for its Nostalgic Nile holiday sailing on board the Amber ‘Dahabiyya’ on the 7th November 2007 priced at £2045 per person*.

Previously all the operator's dahabiyya sailings for 2007 had sold out due to high demand. Bales is currently the only UK tour operator to offer this unique Nile cruise experience at a more sedate and tranquil pace.

The dahabiyyas revive those elegant days of the early 19th century when aristocrats and sophisticated travelled cruised the Nile on their private wooden crafted river sailing vessels. The Amber is outfitted in colonial style with oriental and Egyptian touches and each of the six cabins has its own individual decoration.

The 12 day holiday includes three days in Cairo staying at the Mena House Oberoi Hotel, before embarking on the Amber at Luxor for a leisurely seven day cruise to Aswan. The vessel stops at private moorings, away from the larger towns, as well as calling in at little visited Nile islands.

A comprehensive sightseeing programme incorporating Karnak, the Valley of the Queens, Medinet Habu, the Valley of the Kings, Edfu, Kom Ombo, the High Dram and Philae is also included in the itinerary.

*The holiday is priced at £2245 per person, based on two sharing a double or twin cabin, and includes all flights and internal transport and sightseeing, first class hotel accommodation in Cairo and breakfast, and full board on the cruise.
