9th July 2007 Print
Sri Lanka For a new take on the ‘tea break’, book a luxury holiday to one of Sri Lanka’s finest tea plantations with Tropical Sky. Travel between August and October and enjoy six night’s boutique-style accommodation on a full-board basis at Ceylon Tea Trails from £1,179 per person.

Ceylon Tea Trails is located in central Sri Lanka in an area known as the Golden Valley of Tea. Four classic colonial bungalows, originally built for British tea estate managers in the days of the Raj, have been restored to offer 20 luxurious rooms and suites and the opportunity to experience life on a working tea plantation.

Individually designed, the four bungalows are spread across the estate, some 14kms apart. Each has its own manager, chef, butler and staff and contains between four and six luxury en-suite bedrooms. Guests can choose to stay in one bungalow for the duration of their holiday or explore the tea trails and alternate their accommodation and vistas choosing between breathtaking views of mountain ranges, ravines, winding roads and waterfalls.

Day time activities range from visits to the tea factories and daily treks or picnics at spectacular locations to mountain biking, white water rafting on the Kelani River and kayaking the Castlereagh Reservoir. Or, the more leisurely pursuits of tennis, swimming, croquet and spa treatments are also available.

The price includes accommodation in a luxury room at Ceylon Tea Trails, return flights from London Gatwick with Qatar Airways, all meals, soft drinks, wine served with dinner as well as local beer and spirits, taxes and surcharges, and of course tea!
