Enjoy an eco-friendly holiday in Greece

Greece is slowly catching up with its EU neighbours; it has a limited infrastructure but a willingness to progress. With this in mind, Greek villa specialist, Travelux, has introduced its first eco-friendly villa to its portfolio. Located on the Ionian Island of Lefkada, Melivaro House uses the latest eco-friendly technology and environmentally friendly products.
The house has been beautifully constructed using recycled wooden beams, local marble and natural stone. Taken from the ground during the excavation, the stone was handcrafted to construct the thick walls of the house. The structure, using half timber frame and half stone, follows the very old traditional Lefkadian style and is a superb achievement and testament to the local craftsmen of their skills.
In place of electricity the house draws renewable energy through a silent, sophisticated solar-powered system, which means there is no depletion of mineral resources or direct air or water pollution.
The finishing touch is with ecological paint. Environmentally friendly and used in accordance with sustainable organic chemistry principles, ecological paint not only breathes easier but when compared to decorating using an ordinary paint, it reduced the carbon footprint by up to 30kg.
Sleeping six in two double bedrooms and two single bedrooms and with its own private swimming pool, Melivaro House is a perfect option for any modern family. Close to the tavernas and a shop and with wonderful views over rural hills and to the sea, it offers a simplistic warmth, character and charm.
Travelux is offering up to 25% off Melivaro House on selected dates in September and October – a saving of approximately £1,500. The price of £748 per person is based on six sharing and includes seven night’s accommodation, return flights from London Gatwick or Manchester, two cars, maid service, beach towels and a welcome hamper.
