Educational breaks without the kids

History….there’s plenty! Step back in time to 1066 with a visit to Haven Holiday’s Combe Haven on the outskirts of Hastings – where you can even learn archery like King Harold’s army. Church Farm, at Pagham is ideally placed to explore nearby Fishbourne, one of the major Roman sites in the UK.

A trip out from Presthaven Sands on the coast of North Wales will encourage you to enjoy the best of Welsh industrial history with a visit to Sygun Copper Mines or the Llechwedd Slate Caverns. Or put Welsh castles on your agenda with a break at Hafan y Mor - within easy reach of Caernarfon, Harlech, Beaumaris and Conwy.

Geography? Head for the Jurassic Coast and you’ll get several millennia of geology in one 95 mile stretch of coastline. Perran Sands in Cornwall helps to manage the county’s largest dune system, rich in rare flora and fauna. It might be within sight of Blackpool Tower but Marton Mere borders a SSSI, a real haven for wildlife and wildfowl. Or pay a visit to the Centre for Alternative Technology at Machynlleth, an easy drive from Hafan y Mor.
