A Creative Escape in southern Spain

28th September 2007 Print
Following the success of their summer photography and writing courses in France, educational travel company Creative Escapes has announced a brand new series of courses this autumn in southern Spain. These intensive seminars are aimed at both beginners and established journalists looking to improve their skills.

The four-day workshops are held in an 18th-century stone villa near Alicante along the Costa Blanca, set on a gorgeous landscape intended to stimulate and inspire students' creative minds. Our seasoned team of broadsheet, magazine and guidebook writers and photographers will teach secrets and tips of professional travel writing and photography.

The travel writing course covers such fundamentals as pitching ideas, picking a theme, finding a hook, creating enticing descriptions and meeting and networking with editors. The photography classes cover the basics of digital and film cameras – aperture, metering, lighting and lenses – before going into detail about what makes great images, how to compose and shoot them and even how to touch them up in Photoshop.

Seminar lectures are supplemented with practical exercises that take advantage of the gorgeous Spanish landscape and nearby villages so that students can try out what they have learned in class, and there are also several one-on-one tutorial sessions with the expert instructors. The social aspect of the courses is very important as well, with time outside of class that allows students to network and kick-back with other students and tutors.

Students are housed in attractive duplex chalets with individual bedrooms, full kitchen, swimming pool and great views.

The course fee of £449 covers all tuition, accommodation, full board with wine, materials, plus transfers to/from Alicante airport.
