Virgin Holidays introduces V ROOM

23rd October 2007 Print
Virgin Holidays introduces V ROOM The wait is over. Virgin Holidays’ customers will soon be saying goodbye to crowded, dull departure lounges and hello to starting their holiday in style. In spring 2008, Virgin Holidays will unveil a totally new concept: V ROOM.

The opening will mark the first ever airport lounge dedicated to leisure travellers. V ROOM will be available exclusively to Virgin Holidays customers, whatever class of travel, and is a direct response to ongoing customer research that identified a demand for an “all access” lounge.

V ROOM has been created to add more “extras” to the holiday experience precisely when it’s needed: at the start of the break when it’s time to switch off. Located in a premium Gatwick location covering 7340 square feet with dual-aspect runway views and floor to ceiling windows, V ROOM will feature three distinct areas: kids, adults-only and family. These areas will cater to the specific needs of each, delivering services with the flair and humour for which Virgin Holidays’ customer service is known:

V relaxing… for adults
Here, there’ll be nothing more strenuous on offer than a good newspaper read, internet surfing and passive floor to ceiling plane watching. It’s the perfect scenario for beginning the “switching off” process. In true “Virgin” style, however, there are other surprises to be unveiled at the opening.

V family friendly… for everyone
The family space is designed for everyone to chill out together. A soft play area, telescopes and some exciting games currently under wraps, will keep the kids amused until boarding. Definitely beats trying to locate them among the crowds when they’ve run off in the terminal.

V fun… for kids
Bigger kids (and probably adults) will head straight to the tech zone. This dedicated area with internet access, will be packed with the latest video games.

V tasty…of course
All Virgin Holidays V ROOM visitors will enjoy a café serving hot and cold complimentary food, soft drinks and a decent cup of coffee (surprisingly elusive pre-flight). In addition, yummy pastries, hot sandwiches, fresh fruits, cereal and yoghurt will be on the menu.

Amanda Wills, Managing Director at Virgin Holidays, said “Our customers know that they always get more on a Virgin Holiday and V ROOM, the first lounge of its kind to be opened by a tour operator, is yet another “extra” that separates us from the competition.

“We listen to all our customers, and they are varied. That’s why V ROOM’s entertainment offering has been carefully thought out to cater for them all, from toddlers to grandparents. The space is fantastic too, making V ROOM a real benefit for our Gatwick customers. We’re also delighted to announce that invited partners to the V ROOM proposition so far include Elite Island Resorts and Orlando FlexTicket”
