Keycamp holidays get greener
Self-catering holiday specialist Keycamp has further built upon its eco-conscious camping credentials by leading the way to become one of the only holiday companies in the world to achieve Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification. The award has been made following Keycamp’s commitment to use only FSC-certified paper for its brochures and printed materials, and is recognition of the company’s support of responsible forest management.
Emma Newman, marketing and agency sales executive, comments: “The FSC trademark is recognised around the world, and so this prestigious accreditation helps our customers see at a glance our desire to minimise our environmental impact. It is the latest in a long line of green initiatives that we have put in place to help our customers holiday more sustainably, and we are very proud to have achieved it.”
The push to become FSC-accredited follows the implementation last year of a series of green measures, including partnerships with charities Climate Care and The Travel Foundation, plus the introduction of rail travel into the programme; and is part of a comprehensive plan to enhance Keycamp’s environmental policy in both the short and long term.
The challenges will include improving energy efficiency and sustainability both at head office and in resort, and will incorporate a number of initiatives such as fitting energy saving devices to accommodation and improving the recyclability of mobile homes and tents.
Robin Parry, managing director of Keycamp, says: “The Green Plan is an integral focus of our business as not only is it ethically the right thing to do but many of our customers, and indeed staff, put a high priority on green issues and expect us to behave as responsibly as we can.”
“The FSC certification is a great achievement and is one of the targets that we have put in place demonstrate a proper commitment to the environment with very real actions. This is supported by the whole ethos of our holidays, which are all about getting back to nature and enjoying the environment.”
