A magical walk through southern India

Few walks in the world offer such a kaleidoscope of experiences as Southern India with its dramatic coastlines, isolated beaches, dense forests, networks of rivers and streams, amazing array of flora and fauna and the beauty of the Nilgiri and Annamalai Hills.

This 19 day walking adventure begins in Bangalore – the garden city of India – which has some of the most interesting historic architecture on the subcontinent. Highlights include, Vidhan Soudha, the stunning 240 acre Bangalore Palace and the rock formations of Savandurga.

Glorious Bangalore is the ‘jumping off point’ for many other unforgettable experiences which include, Sravanbelgola; Hassan (to visit the star shaped temple in Belur); the Hoyaleshwara Temple in Halibid; Mysore; the Chamundi Hills, Srirangapattanam; the hill station of Ootacamund; Dodabetta Peak; the Glenmorgan Downs; and the Toy Train to Coonoor and drive to Droog and the famous Nonsuch Tea Estate.

Next its even further south to Kumarakom, on the eastern shore of Lake Vembanad – a Mecca for migratory birds, which also includes a river cruise.

The final stop is Chochin where one will have the opportunity to explore magnificent scenes and sights including, the Dutch Morning Palace, Chinese Fishing Nets and the Palace of Cochin before returning to Madras for a night.

All in all, it is a fantastic journey through one of the World’s most mystical and magical places.
