Lakeland hideaway opens its doors for Christmas A stunning new property set amid the Lake District’s most dramatic views, hikes and peaks is now taking bookings for Christmas and into 2008. Perched beneath the magnificent Langdale Pikes, Herdwick Place in Great Langdale in the South Lakes makes the perfect winter retreat. The mid-terraced two-bedroom house, which is available for lettings through The Coppermines & Lakes Cottages, combines stylish and contemporary living in an idyllic rural location.

Invigorating walks are right on the doorstep and the views are matchless.

The best local materials have been used to reflect the landscape and the house boasts a beautifully-designed kitchen made of Langdale slate. There are also gorgeous traditional Herdwick wool rugs in the lounge.

Both bedrooms and the lounge offer views across Great Langdale Beck to Lingmoor Fell.

The house is built on three levels with an open tread spiral staircase.

Bedroom one comes complete with a double bed and an en-suite shower room. The second bedroom has twin beds and there is a separate large bathroom.

In the front garden there are two benches where guests can sit and enjoy the sounds of the stream and the views across the valley.

The house is perfectly located for tackling some of the best walks and climbs in the South Lakes. Pavey Ark, Crinkle Crags and Bowfell are some of the most popular and challenging.

Herdwick Place is also just a mile from Chapel Stile with its shop and Wainwright’s pub and Skelwith Bridge with its popular café.

The house sleeps up to four people and is available immediately. It can be booked for weekend or week long breaks.

Prices start at £205 for a weekend break and £295 for a full week in low season. The rate for the week over Christmas is £495.
