Funds raised in Haven

14th December 2007 Print
Haven Holidays, Britain’s favourite family holiday park operator has pledged to donate £1 to charity for every booking received between now (December 14th) and December 31st. It seems the holiday company has been raising funds for a variety of charities all year and they want to top it up with a final festive fund-raising push.

“We’ve raised £194,500 already this year and hope to reach a final target of £200,000” say Haven.

“Our biggest drive has been jointly for the NSPCC and the Children’s Trust in Tadworth, Surrey,” said Naomi Woodstock of Haven Holidays. Throughout the holiday season Haven entertainers and bar staff have been holding collections, staging auctions, organising golf tournaments and generally encouraging Team Members and customers to put their hands in their pockets for charity.

Between their 35 holiday parks around the UK they managed to raise a massive £65,000 and generous bosses at Haven agreed to match the amount to boost funds for the two charities.

But that’s not all. “We always have a big push for Jeans for Genes,” said Naomi. Star of this year’s fund-raising was the General Manager of Combe Haven Holiday Park near Hastings who took to the stage as an Elvis impersonator and raised £900 for the charity. In a potential new career move he also took three bookings for future performances!

Haven have also raised money for Children in Need, the Air Ambulance Association and numerous local charities close to their parks.

“Caravan owners are very generous,” continued Naomi. “When you buy a caravan on a Haven park you automatically become a member of Owners Exclusive – which is a bit like being part of an exclusive country club. In addition to having access to special facilities and events most Owners get together to raise funds for local charities, with auctions, parties and summer fayres.”

At Devon Cliffs, near Exmouth, Owners raised £8000 for four local charities including Exmouth paramedics and Exmouth Hospital League of Friends.

Now the holiday company hope to raise a further £5500. All bookings received by Haven before New Year’s Eve will help contribute towards their fund-raising target. And customers will get the benefit of their early booking discount as well.
