New website for parents with the travel bug
First time mom Corinne McDermott wanted to take a family vacation before her maternity leave was over. Frustrated by finding scattered information on destinations, packing, tips on air travel, and family-specific hotel reviews, she decided to create a one-stop web brochure for busy parents with questions on traveling with baby. Her supportive husband/webmaster taught himself the basics, and Have Baby Will Travel was launched from their basement.
In its first few months, Have Baby Will Travel has already helped thousands of parents from around the world research destinations, read informative articles, and peruse trip reviews submitted by other traveling families. There is also a valuable links page, where Corinne features other websites and businesses aimed at supporting families and family travel.
Have Baby Will Travel currently features information and trip reports for 19 destinations around the world, and more is in the works. Corinne is one day hoping to add a full section on all the gear, gadgets, and gizmos that can help families travel more easily, and first-hand reviews on those items as well. More plans for Have Baby Will Travel include a newsletter, and assistance in booking family travel.
“The idea of traveling with a baby or toddler seems so stressful to some that they either postpone travel until their child is older, or they leave the little one at home,” says McDermott. “Gone are the days of traveling light, and taking the family away is a different kind of travel altogether - but certainly no less enjoyable, for us it’s even more so.”
