For a family holiday with absolutely no bored kids, this trip has it all - adventure, wonderful hotels, desert camping and the chance to climb Mt. Toubkal (4,167m), North Africa’s highest mountain. Haggle in the souks of Marrakech, explore ancient kasbahs, ride camels across the dunes of the Sahara and relax on the Atlantic beaches of Essaouria.

Dragoman Overland’s 14-night, action-packed Moroccan Family Adventure will keep the whole family on their toes from start to finish! Departing Marrakech 28th July and 11th August 2008. (Trip codes FMA38 and 48 respectively).

The first two days are spent in an elegant merchant’s riad (traditional Arab house) in Marrakech - seek out ancient souks and discover the exotic life of this fascinating city. Cross the Atlas Mountains to Ait Benhaddou (location for many films including Lawrence of Arabia and Gladiator), explore the stunning kasbah then hike through the vast Todra Gorge and palmery.

Take a sunset camel safari into the Saharan dunes, enjoy Berber meals under the stars and visit the oasis town of Ouarzazate before travelling across the Anti-Atlas to Taliouine. After navigating the spectacular Tizzi-n-Test Pass relax in the pool at a French-style mountain auberge. Next up, stay at the award winning Kasbah de Toubkal mountain lodge under Mt. Toubkal.

Situated on the edge of the Toubkal National Park it was developed to provide the best available accommodation, using local produce and labour, whilst actively teaching guests about local culture and traditions – there are also a number of community projects for families to get involved in. The more energetic in the party can trek up Mt. Toubkal (4,167m), North Africa’s highest mountain, or set lower sights and take rewarding gentle hikes.

The final two nights are spent in the colourful port of Essaouira which offers plenty of watersports facilities as well as great beaches to relax. Return to Marrakesh for a final night and last group meal before the flight home.

The overland costs £985 p/adult £887 p/child (aged 7 to 15yrs) including transport aboard Dragoman’s Mercedes-Benz truck and camels, riad, hotel, french auberge, desert camping and campsite accommodation (70% hotels / 30% camping), all camp meals and the expertise of Dragoman’s two person crew.
