An African genesis

From Livingstone, spend an initial 4-nights exploring the Zambezi River, Victoria Falls and the gorges that make up this fascinating area – adrenaline junkies have the option of white water rafting, bungi jumping and canoe safaris… to name a few.
Overland through rural Zambia via Lusaka and on to South Luangwa National Park, possibly the best place in Africa to see hippos and crocodiles – and Thornicroft’s Giraffe, found nowhere else. Next, spend time at a Kundu village community project before crossing into Malawi. Search for souvenirs at Lilongwe's market then head up to Nyika National Park, the largest and oldest park in Malawi. Here, spend 2-nights on the stunning Nyika Plateau followed by chill-out time on the beaches of Lake Malawi – Africa’s third largest.
In Tanzania, travel through Mikumi National Park, situated at the foot of the densely forested Uluguru Mountains, home to large herds of elephant, buffalo and giraffe, together with lion and leopard, en route to the Indian Ocean. From Dar-es-Salaam an optional 2-night trip to the legendary spice island of Zanzibar is on offer.
Alternatively, stay on main land and soak up the atmosphere of a city with an amazing history, watch ocean-going 'dhows' and inshore 'ngalawas' (out-rigger fishing canoes). Travel to the beautiful Usambara Mountains, located in the north east of Tanzania between Kilimanjaro and the Indian Ocean, overlooking the vast Masai steppe. Explore this wonderfully lush and green region, dubbed the Galapagos of the plant world, then drop in at Arusha Snake Park, which houses examples of virtually all East Africa's most venomous snakes.
Later, head to Ngorongoro Crater and the classic East African scenery of rolling grasslands in Serengeti National Park before arriving in cosmopolitan Nairobi where the journey ends.
