Don’t let the credit crunch bite too hard

Don’t let the credit crunch bite too hard The credit crunch might be biting but don’t let it stop you booking a holiday - just book a break a bit closer to home. UK breaks can offer excellent value for money and have lots of other benefits besides. Fly the flag for the Great British seaside holiday and rediscover what’s so good about holidays that don’t involve travelling overseas.

Price - A week from July 26th at Haven Holidays Combe Haven Holiday Park near Hastings in standard self-catering accommodation will set you back £429. And that’s for a family of four. Typically a self-catering apartment on the Costa Brava costs more than that per person.

Accommodation - If your idea of a caravan holiday conjures up single gas burners and communal showers - think again! Full size cookers in well-equipped kitchens, spacious shower-rooms with unlimited hot water, comfortable lounge areas with flat screen TV and DVD players and most importantly two or three separate bedrooms. Haven Holidays have a range of caravan accommodation to suit all budgets but even their most basic units are fitted with all mod cons and have a double bedroom and one or two cosy twin rooms. What’s more they come with plenty of space and many have a stunning view into the bargain.

Beaches - British beaches are great for sandcastles. Our sand sticks together!

Entertainment and activities - Whilst tanning yourself under a Mediterranean sun has its attractions it doesn’t keep the kids happy. Haven offer a whole range of sports from football to fencing, swimming pools with water features and water-sports, children’s clubs and activities that include golf, horse-riding, tennis and fishing and when you just want to sit back and relax all the family can enjoy the entertainment. Summer shows on Haven’s 35 family parks includes character performances, pantos (even 3D pantos), wrestling, circus stars and evening stage-shows. And what’s more all the entertainment is included in the cost.

Travelling - Pack what you like and travel when it’s convenient for you and your family, no late night flights or early morning departures, lengthy check in times, delayed departures or baggage restrictions. Petrol is expensive but aviation fuel surcharges are worse!

Eco-friendly - It’s good for your carbon footprint. Haven say ‘most of our holidaymakers travel no more than 150 miles to reach their destination and many choose to leave the car behind and arrive but train or bus.’ That’s got to be good for the planet!

Choice - Choose between beaches, Britain’s favourite resorts and beautiful countryside, the great British Break has loads to offer! Check out a choice of holiday parks offering a week’s holiday at less than £500. Reighton Sands on the North Yorkshire coast has seven night breaks from 26th July at just £120 per person in standard accommodation based on a family of four, or £80 if there are six of you. Haven’s Wild Duck in Norfolk and Presthaven Sands in North Wales both start at £499 on the same date.
