In search of the Snow Leopard

Departing Delhi on February 14th 2009, this sixteen-day trip is spent in the company of the renowned Dr. Rodney Jackson, head of the Snow Leopard Conservancy and the world’s leading snow leopard expert. Dr. Jackson is famous for pioneering the standardization of snow leopard tracking and for capturing this mysterious cat on remote cameras - producing some of the first records of natural snow leopard behavior in the wild.
The Snow Leopard is under threat from encroachment into their natural habitat, and is also hunted for their perceived healing properties in Asian medicine. This has reduced their numbers to a mere 7,500 in the wild. The Snow Leopard Conservancy is dedicated to promoting innovative grassroots measures that lead local people to become better stewards of endangered snow leopards, their prey, and habitat. The price of World Expeditions ‘Snow Leopard Adventure’ includes a substantial donation to helping the efforts of the Snow Leopard Conservancy achieve this goal, allowing adventurers to contribute to the protection of this majestic cat.
Beginning in Delhi, the pulsing heart of India, this epic expedition leads explorers into the breathtaking scenery of the Indian Himalaya. With 8 days trekking in sub-zero temperatures, participants will encounter vast mountain ridges, frozen stream crossings, and the opportunity to experience village life in a traditional Himalayan homestay, as well as the best chance to spot a snow leopard in this ultimate adventure expedition.
Departing on February 14th 2009, and joining in Delhi, the sixteen-day ‘Snow Leopard Adventure’ costs £1990, and includes all local payments. For more information, visit Worldexpeditions.com.
