Butlins reaps rewards of UK holiday boom
Butlins today announced a significant jump in the number of bookings it has taken for its peak season, July to September 2008. Up 15% from the same time last year, it appears the UK holiday company is reaping the rewards of the boom in UK holidays and is evidence of people’s intent to stay at home during this hard economic climate. As the cost of living rises, more and more holidaymakers are looking for real value for money without compromising on quality. With holidays available at cost effective prices including over 50 free activities plus many of the nation’s favourite stars from Britain’s Got Talent and X Factor, Butlins is fulfilling this demand.
The company reports an expected 150,000 guests will be at one of its three seaside Resorts – Bognor Regis, Minehead and Skegness – over the next 6 weeks, many of whom are holidaying at Butlins for the first time. With a higher demand than ever, both existing and new customers have been booking earlier to ensure their particular requirements will be satisfied and the best prices enjoyed. Prices start from £94pp per break for a family of four sharing a Silver self-catering apartment on a three night break during the summer holidays.
Richard Bates, Managing Director at Butlins said, “We are experiencing an increase in bookings as people are choosing to boycott the continent for many reasons such as the strong Euro and the fuel surcharges that are significantly affecting air and sea travel. Why would a family subject themselves to what is typically an awful experience at our airports with long queues, delays and excess luggage charges, when they can simply fill up the car with everything they need for a family break and arrive feeling relaxed and ready for a fun holiday. Holidaying in the UK can offer an irresistible combination of convenience, value for money and flexibility.”
