No test for tigers

Following its successful 2006 combination tours, Naturetrek offers cricket and wildlife enthusiasts the opportunity to fuse sport with visits to some of India’s most important Tiger Reserves. After enjoying the One-day International Cricket match in Delhi head off into the heart of Tiger country during a 6-day safari to Pench and Kanha Tiger Reserves, two of India’s finest, then watch the first 2-days of the Test Match in Ahmedabad.

Also on offer is a pre-tour extension to Assam to see another One-day international in Guwahati before exploring Kaziranga NP, and a post-tour extension to experience the whole Test Match in Ahmedabad. Naturetrek’s exclusive main tour departs London 30th November 2008.

Spend an initial 2-nights in Delhi, relaxing by the hotel pool or birdwatching in the capital’s parks before the One-day International match. Transfer by air to Nagpur, then drive north to Pench Tiger Reserve. Here, spend 2-nights enjoying game drives in search of resident wildlife including Common Langur, Spotted and Barking Deer with possible sightings of Sloth Bear.

Next, Kanha Tiger Reserve - one of India’s largest reserves and one of the best places to observe Tigers. As well as Tiger, other highlights include Sambar, Spotted and Swamp Deer, Wild Boar, Asiatic Jackal, and with luck, Leopard and Dhole (Indian Wild Dog). Transfer by air to Ahmedabad via Mumbai for 3-nights to watch the first two days of Test Match Cricket - India vs England, before homeward flights. Alternatively join the post-tour extension.

Kaziranga National Park and One-day International Cricket Match, India vs England.

From Kolkata, transfer by air to Guwahati and drive to Kaziranga Tiger Reserve for 3-nights exploration of the park. In addition to endangered One-horned Rhinoceros, other highlights include Kaziranga’s population of wild Water Buffalo (one of the world’s last remaining wild populations). Return to Guwahati for the One-day International Cricket Match, India vs England, before returning to Delhi and beginning of the main tour.
