A gentle ramble
Walking for wimps - for those who fancy a walking break but aren’t of the ‘hairy kneed’ variety, a gentle rambling holiday – where visitors can do as much or as little as they like – is on offer from the Switzerland Travel Centre. The three-night ‘Swiss Path’ itinerary is based in the pretty town of Fluelen on Lake Lucerne from where guests can walk the Swiss Path, which comprises of seven routes, totalling 35 km. Each section starts from a different lakeside village so visitors can choose the number of walks they take. On some stretches the path is completely flat and the altitude difference is a maximum of 400 metres, so there’s no huffing and puffing up mountain slopes.
Available until October, the twin share price of £388 per person includes return flights from Heathrow, rail transfers, accommodation with breakfast at the three-star Minotel Sternen, route notes and a four-day Swiss Pass giving unlimited travel on trains, buses and lake steamers.
