An Indian summer for Seven Bays Forget that August was a washout and look forward to an Indian Summer over the October half term. The water is probably at its’ warmest at this time of year and with improved wetsuit technology there is no excuse not to hit the beach with the kids and surf a few breaks. And don't stint on comfortable accommodation, there are still bargains to be had in the Seven Bays area.

12 Strand Street is a spacious character cottage with fantastic views over Padstow harbour. Sleeping 8 it is furnished to a very high standard to provide a stylish better-than-home away from home with an absolute dream of a kitchen. Right on your doorstep Rick Stein’s influence can be seen on the local restaurants and bars with a foodie heaven of quality eateries using local organic produce.

If you over-indulge, a short stroll takes you to the secluded estuary beaches but if you really want to burn off those calories, the glorious sandy surfing beaches of the Seven Bays – one for every day of the week – are within 10 minutes drive. In this surfing mecca, most beaches here have their own British Surf Association approved surf school providing lessons and equipment, with prices starting from £25 for half a day.

Cornish Horizons (cornishhorizons.co.uk) is offering a half term saving of £230 for seven nights at 12 Strand Street from 25 October if booked by parties of 6 or less. Was £950, now £712.
