Experience Ireland in autumn for less Why not enjoy the beauty of Ireland this autumn and save up to £100 at the same time with a self-catering holiday that allows holidaymakers much more freedom and independence than staying in hotels or B&Bs.

Cottage holiday specialist Imagine Ireland and ferry company Stena Line have teamed up to offer some superb self-catering holidays on the Emerald Isle. The self-catering accommodation available ranges from traditional Irish thatched and stone cottages to restored farmhouses, renovated barns, apartments and modern bungalows. Thanks to its tie-up with Stena Line, Imagine Ireland can offer over 30 daily departures on five ferry routes between Britain and the island of Ireland.

Stena Line UK communications and PR manager, Nigel Tilson, believes the self-catering holidays provide customers with the opportunity to tailor a holiday to suit their requirements.

“This one-stop shop of self-catering holidays lets the customer decide where they want to go and what they want to do. These holidays suit families that are looking to book an affordable mid-term break or friends that want to get away from it all and enjoy a holiday from as little as £8* per person per night complete with travel and accommodation!”

Customers can take the family and pack the car with all their belongings, forgetting about baggage or check-in charges and set sail from Holyhead to Dublin Port or Dun Laoghaire, Fishguard to Rosslare or Stranraer to Belfast from only £8* per person per night.

There are over 1,000 self-catering properties in Ireland to choose from, including a 3 bedroomed detached property in the picturesque setting of Waterville, Co Kerry. This extremely spacious property is located near the beach and boasts views of the Atlantic Ocean.

As an example of the exclusive offers available saving customers £100, this property is available from 18 October for 5 people sharing for £519 (£8* per person per night). This includes the holiday home for 14 nights self-catering and return travel with Stena Line.

Another example of the excellent properties on offer includes a beautiful stone cottage at Shillelagh in the Wicklow Mountains. Situated halfway between Dublin and Rosslare ferry ports, the cottage is in the heart of fabulous touring and walking country. It is perfect for exploring the pretty East Coast of Ireland. Within 30 minutes drive is the famous Brittas Bay Blue Flag Beach, Ballykissangel country and the bustling holiday resort of Courtown plus an abundance of tourist attractions.

Again saving £100, a week-long self-catering holiday at the Wicklow Mountains cottage is now only £436 (£13* per person per night) from 20 September for 5 people sharing. This includes the cottage for 7 nights and return ferry travel with Stena Line.

Lawrence Bate from Tourism Ireland believes a self-catering break is an ideal way to enjoy a hassle free holiday to explore the island of Ireland.

“The Emerald Isle has so much to offer and a Stena Line self-catering break in association with Imagine Ireland is the perfect solution for those who enjoy the flexibility of taking the car and tailoring their holiday to suit their needs,” said Lawrence.
