Slovenia - An alternative to the Beaujolais Nouveau dash

Slovenia - An alternative to the Beaujolais Nouveau dash Specialist tour operator, Just Slovenia, is organising short breaks to join in the St Martin’s Day celebrations on November 11th and throughout the month, as an alternative to the Beaujolais Nouveau dash.

The Festival of St Martin marks the day when must – the juice of freshly pressed grapes - traditionally turns to wine, with numerous celebrations at wine cellars, concerts and feasts across the country to welcome in the new vintage.

One option is to stay at Hlebec Farmhouse in Kog, in the heart of the Lutymer/Ormoz wine region in the north east of Slovenia. Here the owner - who is both a wine grower and sommelier - cultivates 20,000 vintage wines from which the likes of Renski, Laski Rizling, Sauvignon and Chardonnay are produced.

Guests are given the opportunity to enjoy wine tasting, as well as the delicious traditional dishes served up by Mrs Hlebec and washed down with the new wines in the farm’s vaulted restaurant.

Prices for a four-night break start from £387 per person based on two people travelling in November and include return flights from Stansted to Ljubljana, car hire, half board accommodation and wine tasting.
