New adventurers on Earth’s oldest continent

30th September 2008 Print
Peregrine has added new adventures to its Africa programme tempting travellers beyond the game parks to experience the energy and diversity of the world’s oldest inhabited continent.

Essence of Tanzania: 11 days departing Arusha between now and March 09.

Peregrine’s new Essence of Tanzania adventure adds an extra twist to East African safaris by combining a fully-supported mobile camp in some of the country’s best game parks, with a unique and unforgettable cultural experience. See elephants in Tarangire NP, tree-climbing lions in Lake Manyara NP, the ‘big five’ in Ngorongoro Crater and visit the Serengeti, site of the greatest perpetual animal migration on earth.

At Lake Eyasi, spend a privileged day with the Hadzabe Bushmen, Tanzania’s oldest tribe, learning how they construct their homes, make bows and arrows and traditional jewellery. Join the menfolk on a hunting expedition or accompany the women as they collect roots and berries from surrounding forests.

The tour costs £2,490 p/p (twin share) including accommodation, all transport, Peregrine leader, some meals, park entry fees and domestic flight.
International flights are not included.

Botswana and Zambia Discovery: 15 days departing Victoria Falls between June and October 09.

In southern Africa, Peregrine introduces two, 8-day adventures that combine to form a new Botswana and Zambia Discovery tour. Spend the first 6 days game viewing in two of Zambia’s premier national parks – vast Kafue and South Luangwa (site of the world’s highest naturally occurring leopard population).

Crossing the border into Botswana, first stop is Chobe National Park, followed by a guided tour of the Makgadikgadi salt pans on quad bikes. Later, head for the Khwai River region, bordering the Moremi Game Reserve where spotting the ‘big five’ is virtually guaranteed! Botswana’s most famous attraction, the tranquil waterways of the Okavango Delta, where motorised transport is traded for the peace of a poled canoe (mokoro), completes Peregrine’s comprehensive southern African safari.

The tour costs £4,150 p/p (twin share) including accommodation, all transport, entry fees, Peregrine leader, some meals, park entry fees and domestic flight.

International flights are not included.
