Sunshine in Dorset or your money back

Rain can no longer dampen the spirits of holidaymakers in Dorset, who are being offered a cheery refund on the cost of their trip if rain stops play! Customers staying in any of Dorset Coastal Cottages’ self-catering properties can now claim 20% back on the cost of their holiday if it rains for more than three days during a week-long holiday.

Charles Smith, managing director of Dorset Coastal Cottages said:

“I’ve lived in Dorset for many years and I often return from bad weather elsewhere to find sunshine in Dorset. So I wanted to give our customers a bit of confidence and something to look forward to when they book with us.”

Under the sunny-natured Rain Refund offer, customers can get 20% of their accommodation costs back if it rains more than 20mm on three days during a week-long stay. Rainfall will be measured by an independent body near Weymouth and customers will need to buy a £5 Cancellation Policy when they book to qualify for the refund.

But thrifty holidaymakers shouldn’t get too excited about getting their money back; according to the Met Office, the classic Dorset seaside town of Weymouth had the most hours of sunshine in the UK last year, basking in a sizzling 2058 hours of sun - way over the national average of 2000 hours.

Mr Smith said: “Dorset really is the sunshine county. If you’re looking for a greener, less travel intensive holiday in the UK this year, you don’t necessarily need to compromise on sunshine and good weather if you come to Dorset.”

And in line with its sunny disposition, Dorset Coastal Cottages has recently added 40 new character properties to its portfolio, taking the total number of cottages available up to 150.
