Alpine winter rail holidays

The Switzerland Travel Centre has launched a programme of affordable rail holidays travelling through Switzerland’s stunning winter Alpine landscapes. Itineraries on offer include the three-day ‘Winter Glacier Express’, taking in overnight stays in the ancient city of Chur and the picturesque town of Brig and including a four hour journey on the Glacier Express, one of Switzerland’s finest Alpine scenic train rides.

On offer between 13 December and 31 March (excluding the festive period), prices lead in at the twin share rate of £432 per person inclusive of return flights from Heathrow or London City, rail transfers, two nights’ accommodation with breakfast in three-star hotels and Glacier Express journey with three-course lunch.

Other unescorted rail itineraries include ‘Swiss Mountain Peaks’ - a four-day trip incorporating Interlaken, Engelberg and Zurich and including a cable car excursion to the summit of Mount Schilthorn and the breathtaking glaciers at Mount Titlis – from £502 per person.

City breaks or stays in mountain resorts can also be incorporated into any rail itinerary.
