Sea trials for MSC Fantasia MSC Fantasia - the largest ship ever built for a European ship owner – continues her sea trials. On Friday 24 October MSC Cruises’s flagship left Penhoet Quay of Aker Yards France to reach Forme Joubert dock. From there, it departed for 48 hours’ sailing in the open sea. The ship was scheduled for return to the shipyard on the afternoon of 27 October.

Four tugboats were used to move and transfer MSC Fantasia to the Forme Joubert dock. Approximately 400 people were engaged throughout the performance of the sea trials.

Once the sea trials and interior fitting are completed, the flagship will be delivered to the ship owner on 10 December. On the same day, the flag changing ceremony will be performed. MSC Fantasia will leave the ship yard on 10 December and head towards Naples, Italy, where she will be christened by Sophia Loren – the company’s godmother – and celebrated at a major event on 18 December.

The new flagship of the MSC Cruises fleet is a large jewel of the sea, 333 metres long, 38.8 metres wide, 66.8 metres high and with a gross tonnage equal to 150,000 tons.

MSC Fantasia will launch a new sea holiday concept: it will be the first ship featuring an exclusive VIP area - MSC Yacht Club - with 99 luxurious suites, dedicated common areas, reserved access to MSC Aurea Spa and dedicated service from English-style butlers.
