A tour of France’s battlefields
One of Ramblers Worldwide Holidays new tours featured in its latest programme, is a one week, half-board walking holiday in two of the most famous World War I battlefields - The Somme and Passchendaele.The tour, under expert guidance, begins in the reconstructed city of Arras, France for walks amongst the fields of The Somme – a landscape which has hardly changed over 90 years. Next, is a journey by train to Ypres, Belgium to explore the battlefields of Passchendaele and many memorials to the conflict.
There is a fitting and moving tribute to the fallen with the last post ceremony under the Memorial for the Missing at the Menin Gate.
