Africa, simply amazing

18th November 2008 Print
Africa continues to be a popular long haul destination and the new 2009 brochure published by specialist tour operator African Pride offers a great selection of holidays and safaris throughout southern & east Africa.

With ‘Fly-Drive’ holidays to South Africa proving popular the choice of small owner managed guest houses and hotels in Cape Town and along the famed ‘Garden Route’ has been enlarged and these provide excellent accommodation and hospitality. For the ‘first time visitor to South Africa’ a 16 day tour has been created with prices from £1,945 per person.

Many travellers are wishing to visit two or more countries and a number of arrangements have been designed including a popular 17 day tour visiting Cape Town, the ‘Garden Route’ and the spectacular Victoria Falls with costs from £2,500 per person. Further north ‘The Connoisseur Safari’ covers the finest game viewing areas in Kenya and Tanzania in an action packed 12 day safari and costs start at £3,280 per person.

As Africa has so many exotic locations, it is a favourite honeymoon destination and ‘African Horizons’ features a secluded lodge on the banks of the Zambezi with a stunning safari in Botswana and, finally, a stay at the beautiful resort of Paradise Cove in Mauritius. Prices from £3,945 per person.

Namibia has become one of the ‘must go’ places and the brochure covers all aspects; from self drive itineraries for the adventurous traveller; to escorted tours; and a superb 7 day air safari which takes in the stunning scenery of the Namib Desert, the Skeleton Coast, Damaraland with its desert elephants, and the massive Etosha National Park. Holidays start at £2,295 per person.

Mozambique is recognised as a great place for a quiet beach holiday. The lodges are mainly on the off shore islands and accessed by air from Johannesburg or Nairobi. What better way to finish off the day than with sundowners on a dhow as it sails through the warm waters of the Indian Ocean.

The magical islands of Mauritius and The Seychelles remain a firm favourite, offering superb beaches, excellent watersports, world class hotels and charming friendly people. A perfect combination with an exciting African safari or as a stand alone destination.

Since re-introducing Madagascar last year, interest has steadily grown and 3 varied tours covering this amazing island are featured. As it is so large and has much to offer, itineraries can also be created to meet individual needs.

The 146-page brochure is full of holiday and safari ideas and the African Pride team, based in York, is acknowledged as being one of the most knowledgeable and experienced in the UK.
