Brits beat the crunch with ‘all-inclusive’ holidays
Whilst British holidaymakers are determined not to give up on their hard earned holidays despite the financial crisis, more and more are keeping a close eye on their spending by turning to all-inclusive holidays for summer 2009. Leading online travel agent On the Beach has witnessed a huge increase in sales of all-inclusive holidays for summer 2009, up a staggering 43% on 2008.All-inclusive holidays can save holidaymakers hundreds of pounds by eradicating the costs of food and drink whilst in resort.
Furthermore, booking trends appear to have changed across the board, as holidaymakers are determined to keep costs down whilst in resort next summer.
Half-board bookings have also risen, up 26% on summer 2008 with bed and breakfast bookings up 15% year on year.
And with more people than ever opting for inclusive food and drinks, the old favourite amongst British holidaymakers, self-catering holidays, are down 18% year on year.
Simon Cooper, Chief Executive at On the beach said, “Clearly holidaymakers are now taking into account the overall cost of their holidays. Whilst there will still be many great deals available for summer 2009, consumers are taking positive steps to bring the overall cost down by choosing all-inclusive holidays”.
