Beat the credit crunch by going large!
Salcombe Holiday Homes is offering superb discounts on many of its larger properties and by visiting in low and mid season you’ll dodge the summer crowds when enjoying the stunning scenery and many local attractions on offer.
Wake up to a spectacular sea view by renting out The Wood. It sleeps up to 18 people (15 people in the main house and 3 in staff quarters) and costs just £2,000 for a week in low season. That’s a discount of £3,000 compared to a visit in high season! Standing between North and South Sands it enjoys outstanding views over South Sands bay and across the mouth of the estuary, to the dramatic coastline of Prawle Point and the English Channel beyond. Five bedrooms command water views, there are beautiful landscaped gardens, a large dining area and a split level sitting room with an open fireplace. Membership is included at the Marine Hotel Health and Leisure Club for the duration of your stay.
Cooks Boathouse is another property able to house large parties. Sleeping up to 12 people, this recently refurbished Victorian home is on the water in Salcombe and has breathtaking estuary and harbour views. The house is close to the beach, so the whole party could take a morning stroll then enjoy lunch in town. For the duration of your stay, membership to the nearby Marine Hotel Health and Leisure Club is included in the very modest £1000 price tag (a reduction of £2,900).
Low and mid season bargains also extend to Dartmouth. Dartmouth Holiday Homes (dartmouthuk.com) is offering 36 Clarence Street for £540, a total saving of £750. Sleeping up to 10 people, this townhouse has recently been refurbished and is close to Dartmouth’s historic town centre with its many bars and restaurants. The stunning home has a mature terraced garden and is conveniently located so your party can enjoy Dartmouth’s many attractions, including beautiful views of The River Dart.
Many large and smaller properties are available in both towns, offering substantial low-season discounts. Prices differ according to type and size of property. Low season runs until 21 March 2009 (excluding 2 weeks over Christmas and New Year). Significant savings can also be made by renting mid-season (22 March – 12 April 2009 and 7 June – 5 July 2009).
Directors Tim and Ginny Windibank comment, “Prices come down substantially in the winter months and there are the most fantastic bargains to be had. The larger properties are ideal to celebrate family occasions such as wedding anniversaries or reunions and there is still plenty to do and see in the area.”
