Follow John Sargeant to Panama

2nd December 2008 Print
Fans of the hit TV series Strictly Come Dancing can now choose to follow the lead of their favourite celebrities by either taking a John Sargeant-style cruise through the Panama Canal or learning to dance like the professionals in Argentina, thanks to specialist itineraries from Journey Latin America.

Following his surprise exit from the show, John Sargeant is choosing to hang-up his dancing shoes and relax on a cruise through the Panama Canal. You can follow in John’s footsteps on a similar four day, three night cruise, taking in the Country’s highlights. The ‘Canal and City’ tour includes comfortable accommodation in Panama City as well as the chance to explore the vibrant city and its waterways, with prices starting from just £534 per person (excluding international flights).

The more energetic traveller might prefer to head further South and learn to salsa like the stars in a continent filled with Latin rhythm, thanks to special ‘learn to dance’ breaks. From salsa dancing in Cuba, tangoing in Argentina and learning to samba in Brazil, Journey Latin America is able to piece together an itinerary to suit any style of dance and any level of expertise.

Current breaks on offer include a ‘learn to tango’ break in the home of tango, Buenos Aires. The seven-night package includes a stay in one of Buenos Aires’ most charming hotels, The Mansion Dandi Royal. An old colonial mansion house, the hotel also incorporates a truly unique tango school where renowned dancers offer private or group lessons in the art of the Argentinean tango. A seven night stay at the Mansion Dandi Royal starts from £798 per person including breakfast, transfers and a daily two hour private lesson in a small group for five days. Excludes international flights.

Journey Latin America managing director Sarah Bradley comments: “Latin American dance is de rigueur in Europe at the moment, as we have seen from the popularity of the samba and the tango on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.

“Our ‘dance the dance’ breaks allow complete novices to learn to dance like the professionals in the countries in which the moves originate – a truly unique experience that might have even taught John Sargeant a thing or two!”
