Canvas Holidays launches yoga for children

Canvas Holidays, one of the UK’s leading camping tour operators will introduce yoga for children aged 2 - 5 years across five of its European campsites, as part of the company’s new FamilyExtra activity programme for 2009.

The new programme will be based on yoga postures and aims to get little ones (and their parents) to exercise and maintain natural flexibility, whilst introducing the families to more creative parenting ideas and working on core stability and muscle tone.

The tour operator has signed an exclusive deal with Tatty Bumpkin, the award-winning UK-based company in order to bring the popular activity programme to their European campsites.

Canvas Holidays’ managing director Paul Carter commented; “These family sessions are all about learning through play. They encourage youngsters to expand their confidence and excite their minds through movement and music. It incorporates games, music, storytelling, socialising and ‘yoga’ into one session. And the best bit is that it can involve the whole family”.

The programme will be aimed at children from 2 to 5 year olds and their parents through Toddler Club Extra.

Sessions allow scope for free play and creativity and incorporate music, games and props to help the children to learn.

Physically, the classes raise energy levels, generate contentment and can help with a better quality of sleep. Psychologically and emotionally, a session can help communication, stimulating vocabulary and speech; and encouraging an ‘inner calm’ ”.

The programme is aligned with the Early Years Foundation Stage. In addition, further benefits include bonding and attachment, but most of all the sessions are fun.

The new programme will be available in 2009 at all Canvas Holidays FamilyExtra campsites.
