A Chinese odyssey

A Chinese odyssey Walking specialist operator, Ramblers Worldwide Holidays has just introduced our exciting new tour to China entitled ‘A Chinese Odyssey’. This two week, all meals, holiday embraces many of the country’s iconic destinations. The ‘Odyssey’ begins in Beijing – the political and cultural centre of China where one can visit The Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, Summer Palace and the Great Wall of China.

Then, its onto Xian – which combines the modern with the ancient – and an opportunity to visit the 2000 year old Army of Terracotta Warriors.

Next, is Nanjing – one of the most attractive and wealthiest cities, which is located on the Yangtse River surrounded by woodland, lakes and historic ruins. Highlights here include a city tour of Nanjing, a visit to the Mausoleum of Dr Sun Yat-Sen and a walk around the beautiful Xuan Wu Lake.

Suzhou – famed for its silk – is the next stop. One of the oldest towns in the Yangtse basin it is full of canals, superb gardens and cobbled streets. Highlights here include, a visit to Pan Gate and the inspiring ‘Garden to Linger In’ – reckoned to be amongst the four major gardens in China.

The ‘Odyssey’ also takes in Hanzhou – ‘the green city in China’ with its famous Lingyin Temple (one of the foremost Buddhist temples in China) and Shanghai, often referred to as the ‘Paris of the East’ where one can explore The Bund and Yu Garden and Nanjing Road – the famous shopping street in the city.

Price From £2,420 per person includes return flights from Heathrow, transfers, full-board accommodation and the services of a tour leader.
