Beating the Euro with a luxury villa

8th January 2009 Print
With rumours that taking a holiday in the Eurozone might be expensive this year, Quality Villas are proving that even a luxury villa rental operator can fight the exchange rate and in most cases offer its clients even lower rates for 2009.

Following some historic movements in the exchange rate between Sterling and the Euro that threatened to raise holiday prices to unprecedented levels, Quality Villas took the initiative in late December to contact all the property owners on its books asking for reductions from contracted rates.

The move was overwhelmingly positive, many owners who were paid in Euros reducing their prices, some by over 20%, a few even by 40%! As an added bonus, we also contacted owners who were paid in sterling and not affected by the exchange rate, they also reduced their prices meaning there are now numerous credit crunch busting offers available!

A luxury villa may not seem the most logical suggestion for a family looking to book a holiday this year but who still want to watch the pennies...however self catering at a private property will nearly always be cheaper than a hotel. Imagine booking a luxury hotel in the south of France, in mid August for 10 people for one week. If some of those require suites or junior suites (e.g. a parent with a toddler or baby), the supplements soon add up.

If you remember that you have your own private pool and grounds in a villa, no fight over sun loungers and can eat breakfasts and fire up the barbecue at your convenience, not someone elses, then one can start to see the pattern! What delight to shop at local markets and hire a chef for the evening (who will also wash up!) than the hotel restaurant!

Example price:

Villa Maison St Gervais, sleeping 8 with private pool near Moissac in France
(qualityvillas.com/refPR670.php)
Price was £2140 now £1940 (save £200) for a week in August (peak season) or £242 per week, per person, based on 8 sharing or £34 per person, per night.
