Make a new discovery on the Galapagos Islands

12th January 2009 Print
150 years after Charles Darwin published On The Origin of Species, scientists are hailing the evolutionary significance of a creature that Darwin missed during his time in the Galapagos Islands - the pink iguana, recently classified as the Rosada Iguana. It is gratifying to see that even now, on the bicentennial of Darwin's birth, the Galapagos has not yet finished yielding its secrets.

For an insight into this remarkable archipelago, book a Peregrine Galapagos voyage departing between now and 31st March 2009 by 30th January and receive the Quito to Galapagos return flights, worth £231 per person, for free! This special offer is available on a number of Peregrine Adventures’ Galapagos itineraries, including its 10-day Galapagos in Depth tour departing Quito on selected dates throughout January, February and March 09.

After transferring by plane from Quito, board the MY San Jose, a motor yacht accommodating just 16 passengers, for the ultimate Galapagos adventure, designed to showcase the remarkable flora and fauna that makes this World Heritage archipelago unique. Due to the extreme isolation of the islands, nearly a quarter of all wildlife is endemic. Wildlife explorations reveal giant Galapagos tortoises, land and marine iguanas, sea lions, fur seals, dolphins, whales and blue-footed, red-footed and masked boobies alongside pelicans and frigate birds. Other highlights include a visit to the Charles Darwin Research Station and the Highlands, situated on Santa Cruz Island.

The tour now costs from £1,950 p/p (for sale until 30th January 09 - travel by 31st March 09) (normally £2,181 p/p) plus US$100 Galapagos NP fee paid locally. The trip includes an experienced English-speaking naturalist, complimentary return Quito-Galapagos flights, accommodation, arrival transfer, cruise transfers, 7-night cruise, most meals and activities.

International flights are not included but are available through Peregrine Adventures.

No currency surcharges will be added to Peregrine Adventures’ tours departing by 31st Aug 09.
