Carry on swinging

13th January 2009 Print
While many people are feeling the pinch of the recession new research shows golfers are defying the credit crunch and plan to swing on regardless. The independent study surveyed 12,000 clients of YourGolfTravel.com – Europe’s fastest growing golf travel company – and found the vast majority will continue to spend money to stay on the fairways.

An impressive 94 per cent of respondents plan to take a golfing holiday this year and 87 per cent declared golf would be the last luxury item they would give up.

Golf club memberships also appear unlikely to be affected with 71 per cent saying they are unlikely to give up any golf memberships and more than three quarters went as far as stating that in 2009 playing golf is a priority for them in order to keep fit and healthy.

Ross Marshall, Your Golf Travel’s managing director, said “Demand for golf has thrived during the current slowdown with prices coming down and more people working flexi hours or with more free time.

“Our survey and record sales show that golfing trips are recession proof and there really is no better time to get back on the golf course.”

Your Golf Travel is doing its bit to help golfers beat the credit crunch with a host of great golfing getaways for less than £100.

Breaks start from just £36 and are available at a selection of UK venues as well as resorts across Europe.
